If such needs are not met, it is impossible for a child to continue going to school regularly, let alone be motivated or succeed educationally. Sri Lankans face various obstacles caused by natural disasters. If the adults of the family are hospitalized there will be no income for essential needs and the children need help. Through fundraising Akuratatha can give them assistance to continue attending school and help in various other ways. Donations are used to pay the expenses of Community Development projects, taking the students on excursions and supplying families with food and daily essentials in times of natural disasters.
