OUR AREA

Akuratatha is based in a small town called Akuressa, 20 km from the Indian Ocean. Akuressa is surrounded by paddy fields, tea plantations, cinnamon-, coconut- and rubber plantations. Most of the people living here are Singhalese Buddhist farming people, leading simple and peaceful lives.

A Marvelous Day at Telijjawila Central College!

Yesterday was truly special as our four incredible volunteers from France — Flavie, Adèle, Éloïse, and Lisa — joined us for a day of teaching activities at Telijjawila Central College.

From interactive lessons to exciting games, singing, dancing, and laughter — the entire day was filled with fun, energy, and unforgettable moments. Our students absolutely loved every bit of it!

These girls brought fresh ideas, joy, and creativity into the classroom, and it was amazing to see how quickly they connected with the children through love and learning.

Thank you for making this day so meaningful — your presence made a big difference!

A Beautiful Day Out with Our French Volunteers!

Today was a special day for all of us at Akuratatha — a well-deserved free day spent exploring, laughing, and making beautiful memories together!

We had the joy of visiting some wonderful places with our amazing volunteers Flavie, Adèle, Éloïse, and Lisa from France. It was a day full of sunshine, smiles, and connection beyond the classroom.

After all the hard work they’ve been doing with the preschool children and girls at the children's home, it was lovely to enjoy some relaxing moments together and show them a bit more of our beautiful Sri Lanka.

Thank you, girls, for your kindness, energy, and warm hearts. We’re so lucky to have you as part of our journey!

Sharing Smiles and Songs – Our French Volunteers in Action!

After warmly welcoming Flavie, Adèle, Éloïse, and Lisa to the Akuratatha family, we are thrilled to share how beautifully they’ve begun their journey with us.

These four kind-hearted young women have already started making a difference by teaching preschool classes, leading evening sessions at the children’s home, and introducing fun dancing and singing activities that bring joy, confidence, and energy to our children.

Their creativity, patience, and dedication are creating unforgettable moments for our little ones. From cheerful songs to playful rhythms, they are not only teaching but also building strong emotional bonds with the children.

We are deeply grateful for their efforts and look forward to many more heartwarming moments together.
